03. how It Came To Be
The Story Behind It's Always Now
In 2012, as I worked through the end of my first marriage, I discovered meditation and Buddhist teachings. They reshaped my life, yet it grew harder to practice medicine within our time-pressured healthcare system. I longed for more meaningful moments with patients and wished to share the mindfulness tools that had helped me.
In 2015, I learned about the MBSR course and was delighted to find that there was a structured, evidence-based course that taught these exact tools, and so began the long journey to become an MBSR teacher. During the decade that followed, I struggled with consistency. I was pulled in different directions, but always came back to the practice and the deep desire to share the tools in the MBSR course with others. In 2025, I finally opened It’s Always Now LLC and began dedicating part of my time to teaching MBSR courses.
